Getting Started with Marketer

Welcome to Marketer πŸ‘‹
Before starting onboarding, please complete the steps below in order.
This ensures your accounts connect correctly and prevents delays.


Important

The user completing onboarding must have full access to Shopify, Meta, and Google.
Partial access will cause errors.


What you need before you start

  • Shopify login with full admin access

  • Meta Business Portfolio access with full control

  • Google account with access to:

    • Google Ads

    • Google Merchant Center

    • Google Analytics

  • 15–30 minutes of uninterrupted time


1. Shopify: Sales channel setup (required)

The Shopify user completing onboarding will be permanently connected to Marketer.

Step 1: Verify Shopify admin access

  • Ensure you are logged in as a Shopify admin

  • Staff or limited roles are not sufficient


Step 2: Install required sales channels

In Shopify Admin, make sure the following apps are installed and fully set up:

Facebook & Instagram

  • App: Facebook & Instagram

  • Status: Connected and active

Google & YouTube

  • App: Google & YouTube

  • Status: Connected and active

If either app is missing or not fully connected, complete setup before continuing.


2. Meta: Verify setup and permissions

Step 1: Open Meta Business Settings

  • Go to Meta Business Suite

  • Open Business Settings

  • Select the correct Business Portfolio


Step 2: Verify Business Portfolio access

  1. Go to Users β†’ People

  2. Find your user

  3. Confirm access is set to Full control

If not, update access before continuing.


Step 3: Verify Facebook Page access

  1. Go to Accounts β†’ Pages

  2. Select the Page used for advertising

  3. Under People, confirm your user has Full control

Verify Instagram connection

  • Click Connected assets

  • Confirm an Instagram account is connected

  • If not, click Connect assets and log in to Instagram


Step 4: Verify Dataset (Pixel)

  1. Go to Data Sources β†’ Datasets

  2. Select the Dataset connected to Shopify

  3. Under People, confirm your user has Full control

Make sure this is the same Dataset used in Shopify.


Step 5: Verify Product Catalog

  1. Go to Data Sources β†’ Catalogs

  2. Select the Catalog connected to Shopify

  3. Under People, confirm your user has Full control

The Dataset and Catalog must belong to the same Business Portfolio.


Step 6: Business verification

  1. Go to Business info

  2. Check Business verification status

  • If Verified β†’ continue

  • If Unverified β†’ complete Meta business verification before onboarding


3. Connect to Marketer

Once all steps above are complete:

  1. Sign in to Marketer

  2. Go to "Integrations"

  3. Connect Shopify, Meta and Google.

Because permissions are already verified, onboarding should complete without issues.


Final pre-onboarding checklist

Before starting onboarding, confirm that all of the following are true:

  • You are logged in as a Shopify admin

  • The Facebook & Instagram app is installed and connected in Shopify

  • The Google & YouTube app is installed and connected in Shopify

  • You have full access to Meta assets (Page, Dataset, Catalog)

  • Your Meta Business is verified

  • All required Google accounts are connected and active

  • All platforms are successfully connected to the Marketer app

If any item above is not complete, resolve it before starting onboarding.
