Prepare for onboarding
Welcome to Metric!
Please follow this guide to ensure a smooth and seamless onboarding process.
Before starting the onboarding flow in the Metric app, make sure you have set up - and have admin access to - the following accounts:
- Shopify Admin
- Meta Business Account
- Facebook Page
- Meta Pixel/Dataset
- Google Merchant Center
- Google Analytics 4
Shopify Admin
Prepare login credentials for a user with full admin access to your Shopify store. The Shopify user completing the onboarding flow will be permanently connected to Metric.
In Shopify, you must have installed and properly set up the following sales channels:
- The Facebook & Instagram app
- Install and set up the app
Add a meta pixel/dataset - set it to Maximum
The Google & YouTube app
- Install and set up the app
- Connect to Google Merchant Center
- Connect to Google Analytics
Meta - Verify Setup
Go to Meta Business Settings and confirm that your user is assigned full access to the following assets:
- Business Account: Navigate to Users → People
- Facebook Page: Navigate to Accounts → Pages
- Pixel/Dataset: Navigate to Data Sources → Pixels or Datasets
While not strictly necessary, we recommend that you set up an Instagram account and connect it to your Facebook Page:
- Navigate to Accounts → Pages → Select the FB page → Click Connected Assets
If the Instagram account doesn’t appear:
- Click Connect assets and select your Instagram account to link it to your Facebook page.
Important: Please ensure the Meta pixel/dataset is the same one connected to your Shopify store. If you’re unsure, here’s a guide on how to find out.
Google - Verify Setup
Navigate to the Google app within your Shopify Admin:
- Log in to your Shopify admin
- Go to Settings > Apps and sales channels
- Select the Google & YouTube channel
- Click on the Settings tab within the app
Tabs you'll see: Overview, Products, Product Studio, Settings, Help Center.
Tip: You can also find Google & Youtube in the search bar at the top
Part 1: Verify Connection to Google Merchant Center
- Check Google Merchant Center Connection Status: Look for the section that shows whether your Google Merchant Center account is connected.
- If it shows as connected, you are all set.
- If not, follow the prompts to link your Merchant Center account.
Review Connection: Ensure that your products are synced by checking the product listings section within the Google & YouTube channel settings.
Also, go to your Google Merchant Center to verify that there are no errors (such as missing return/shipping policies).
Part 2: Verify Connection to Google Analytics
- Check Google Analytics Connection: Look for the section that indicates whether your Google Analytics account is connected.
- If it shows as connected, you are good to go.
- If not, follow the prompts to connect your Google Analytics account.
- Review Analytics Settings: Ensure that your Google Analytics property is properly set up to track your store's performance.
